| The Issue about Mix DVD's There are questions regarding the legality of DVD mixtapes, as well as the phrase printed on the DVD's "for promotional use only". We will clarify a few points as far as where ArktikMix Productions stands. - The Music VIdeos: On our DVD mixtapes you will find allot of exclusive work, freestyles, etc... those can't be found anywhere in a store. Those videos come directly from the record labels, managers or artists themselves. ArktikMix VJ's work very close with record labels, artists and managers. The record label A&R's, Artists or manager's personally request certain videos to be placed on the DVD mixtapes's and submit those videos themselves to the DJ's. - The DVD mixtapes are FREE, but what you are paying for is: shipping, handling and packaging, as well as maintenance of the website. There is a lot of cost involved in getting these DVD's to the audience. Sometimes the record label will absorb some of the cost but most of the time they don't. In order for us to continue to do so, we have to be able to recoup our expenses. - The DVD Mixtapes: Mixtapes are another mean to get music to the consumer. Record Labels, Managers and Artists utilize the mixtapes/DVD's for various reasons: 1. Create a buzz: When a record label signs a new artist they have to release a single. The process in releasing a single is very costly, so before going into such a cost. They leak it onto mixtapes to get a feel for the single, how it will do amongst the listeners. If the feedback is not great they may go with another single. 2. New artist: Most likely new artists don't have budgets for radio, TV and street promotions, so for them to create a song and get it on the mixtape is another mean to work with little money. 3. Integrity: The mixtapes are not being censored, nor are they being programmed (other by the DJ / VJ), if the streets demand it, 9 times out of 10 it will be on the mixtapes. If artists have something to say, it will be on a mixtape. Radio and TV are censored and are being programmed by Music Directors and Program Directors. They really don't care for the next new hot artists. In order to get radio/TV play you have to be already hot and in demand. So mixtapes will give that break. Why Do DJ's / VJ's sometime Talk Over The Tracks and the Video Track are stamped with the Labels info? We want you to purchase the commercial copies of the artists. By no means do we want to take food out of the artists mouth. So by branding the tracks, we urge you to purchase the no talk / unbranded versions from the store. Also DJ's / VJ's are being measured by the exclusivity by the songs/videos. A hot artists may give a brand new song to certain DJ's/VJ's first, so they want to make sure that this is recognized.
